Primal Siblings
This time instead of just some jamming Shamisen backed by electric guitar there are lyrics and the shamisen backs the guitar more than anything else. Thats right the Yoshida Brothers are back and this time their collaborating with Monkey Majik. I think the video is really good, it's better than the last one I posted anyway. Also I think I smell a hit of (or much more) influence from Naruto.

Slayer's Style
It only took four days but I beat Assassin's Creed and it was a REAL fun game. No doubt it's one of the titles I'll continue to play for months. In all honestly the critics are right it's a game you tell everyone about even if they don't play video games. Why would you do that? Simply because of how over the top it is in quality and fun factor. The game play is all about silently assassinating people and having a grand chase to get away from the guards. You can literally grab anything that looks 3D and scale any building with ledges on it. Having this major ability the entirety of all the cities of which you roam are free game to scale climb and roof hop on. Additionally you can choose to stand ground and fight with your enemies. Even though it's more difficult, if you know what your doing it's lots of fun. The number of moves and combos in combat are limited to a total of about six moves and you would figure that would get boring. however every time you pull a combo and execute your enemy in a cinematic fashion there are several possible animations that can play. This keeps combat even more fresh than normal.
Though i have some complaints about how the game ends it's still well worth the money. I only have one main word of advice for anyone who wants to play this game. Expect an odd ending and to buy the sequel sinc your more or less left hanging.

Brothers Rising
When it comes to instrumental music though I really have to say it is the best of any kind. Having no lyrics makes the music more potent in my opinion because it carries a much more pure feeling. Without lyrics music stays international and multicultural because you can still understand the sound.
I don't know to much about the Yoshida Brothers but they did the music for the Wii commercial "Kodo inside the sun remix". However I do know that the music that they produce is really great. Not all of it is my style but they have some good tracks and it's worth listening to in my opinion.

Local Superstitions
When it comes to games I'm kinda picky and my library while moderately sized, is mostly comprised of titles that everyone has herd of. However when you own a new system you can't be picky for the soul reason that there's not much of anything well known available. For that reason i love and hate it when new systems are released. I get a chance to purchase new different and unknown titles without thinking that i wasted my cash because there were better titles available.
This brings me to subject of the game Folklore. The whole reason that i bought the game was because of how my plans to purchase a different one fell through. After one week I beat the game and it wasn't all that bad. It was worth the money but not much more than just that. The main reason is that the gameplay itself while ok isn't something I'm going to go back to because of how fun it was. The story would probably warrant another start to finish run though. It had many twists right to the end and was what made the game as worth the while as it was.
Game intro (seems to be old the village name is different in the the games)
On a side note the whole game really felt western as if there was no Japaneses influence. It felt so authentic when i first saw the game i wondered if it was made in the states. Anyway it was made in japan and that whole authentic feeling was blown away when the credits were scrolling and halfway through a j-pop song began to play... it was weird to say the lest.
j-pop fit to Irish folklore...

TONS of yen = LOTS of dollars
in my personal opinion there are two animes that will always be timeless. those are evangeilon and cowboy bebop; but even bebop came after and felt the effects of evangelion. Because of how revolutionary the show was bebop nearly didn't air and almost became a defunct show.
Ok ok enough i'll get to the point. After more then ten years the infamous evangelion series is having a rehash and is being animated as four movies. Hopefully it will make more sense this time around but the major point is the amount of money the first film has made. since opening on sep. 1st it has grossed 1.468 billion yen. Ok so what yen is like junk to the us dollar! yeah i know but the USD figure is $12,774,801. I really don't care who you are, that is still a lot of money.
I'm a evangelion fan myself and i look forward to getting my hands on there movies one way or another. Also just for the record I WILL be buying them when they come out because of how much i love the series, I own the series full sized platinum anniversary box set.
not much else to say so here's the original intro.

Recording
Not seeing such a formula is welcome and even more so if it doesn't follow the mould even further. Not many animes do that but the few that do are more than often worth watching for just that reason alone.
This brings me the the show called REC. It's about how a relation can start physically and then develop to being something deep that's not dependant on the flesh. It was different and fun to watch, I only wish there was more to it though. The ending is a real non since it basically leaves off where there could be more story, but it just isn't being told. You could compare it to a story of high school life. There's more after school ends but that's simply not part of the story.
Anyway the intro song was really good in my opinion.

Stop Staring!
I have, in the past talked about "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". The show was VERY good and did considerably well. Despite ending on 7/2/06 the craze continues and there was a PSP game released called "The Promise of Haruhi Suzumiya" The portrait below was put on the game's official site to promote it. As stated by others the realism of her expression to how she acts in the show is just eerie.
Brings a whole new meaning to the term "Ambiguous Gaze".

5cm Every Single Second
Shinkai's latest work is called "Byousoku 5 Centimetres - a chain of short stories about their distance" (I know it's a long title). This production carries Shinkai's name and reputation higher because of how it's quality is still increased from his last work. Having better quality still from his last production is no small task as he employs a large number of very gaudy painted backgrounds with painstaking detail. The end result is brilliant and worth heavy praise epically since the staff on the film is minuscule. Remember Shinkai is a name to follow.
Moving on to the feature itself, the story is about a boy and a girl who seem to have a special connection when they meet in elementary school. Soul mates if you will; however they are quickly torn apart due to how their parents line of work deviate from one another. They stay in contact but long distance relationships are harsh. There's more than one side to the story as well.
After being told how they meet there are three parts to the movie. First the male leads point of view from middle school the the occurring events. The second part is an outside view of the same young man in high school as told by a classmate. Finally the story wraps up as told by the man himself living in Tokyo in the year 2008. Though he dose narrate the ending to an extent the absolute outcome is a bit fuzzy, as the last of the movie is told through a music video/montage. I'm uncertain of how it really ended but if my assumptions are correct...
Point being it's worth watching.

Maximum Music
about a half hour later and I've turned up what i was looking for. Unfortunately to my dismay it turns out the clips are from a video game published in Korea. It's just a real cool beginning and the intro isn't that bad either. Bottom line though there's no story behind why the girl is singing and what type of life she lives. I wish what i saw came from an anime but oh well i can't do anything about it. It goes so far as to be the only real visual in the game too because interface is like a more complex version of DDR only for your fingers.
For those of you who want to know the game is called "DJ MAX Portable" for the PSP.

Kyou no go no ni
This show brought back memories of what it was like to be a kid at that uncertain age. The shows content is rather ecchi but that doesn't stop the fact that it's underlying social base is real. It has some good comedy and interesting parts to it. One of the reasons that i felt like this show was more real was due to the fact that all the kids didn't wear uniforms. While I've gotten used to the whole formal uniform look for high schoolers I still didn't have that kind of experience during my mandatory education. So obviously when i see an anime with people dressed more naturally at something like school i feel like it's much more real to the world I live in.
Anyway the show was good and I had bouts of laughter several times over. Even though the events ended in a sexual manner more than half the time it didn't really bother me. The reason why is because not all the situations were intentional it was just the way they were presented. For instance one girl decides to suck on the main characters finger in order to help get her loose tooth out. Now as odd as it is to use someone else's finger it's not THAT strange. However you can bet that the way the scene was set up it was a bit... little.. ok straight up was suggestive.
Regardless i think the show was played off well. I would suggest it to... guys. Only real problem with it is fan service.

When i get stared I just can't stop and now I just seem to have found another game which I just am NOT getting bored of. Super Stardust HD is and awesome game that's available for the PS3 on the on-line store. Scarred?
Anyway the reason I brought this subject up is because of how I finally went and watched some of his music videos. I recall seeing several of them when I was very young but never really understood them. Well I do now and being trained in graphical design I can say that the works are still done well.

The Begining of Fear
However spooky is a very different kind of thing. Very rare is there any music that is of such nature and even more so is it good enough for me to want to listen to it more than once. Regardless the track entitled "Kyoufu no Hajimari" from "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" is something that's distasteful but I love anyway. Most people who have herd it tell me that it's horrid and I agree but I just can't hate it. I suppose that it's the simple strings and piano that draw me to it despite the disharmony that it develops and looses frequently. It's initial feeling is smooth and calm which most likely is what has attached me to it. Finally even after it's odd, more soundtrack feel it returns to the same feeling of calm uneasiness. That feeling that you have before the monster jumps out which is worse than seeing your attacker.
Really like I said it's odd and a horrid track to just listen to but for some really odd reason I love it.

Vital Pulse
I Should state that even though I like techno music I'm not a fond of people that make albums out of it. The reason why is because they just have a habit of making the songs to long and redundant. The very idea of listening to something repetitive for hours on end while I surf the web, work on a project, or hit up a party is just horrid. For that sole reason I typically only stick to the high quality remixes from video games that come out of the OC Remix. However the music from Andy Hunter is different. It's long and a bit redundant but it just sound so good that it shakes that feeling of "when will it end". Beside that it's level of repetition is much less because there's more tune and less base/synth carrying the songs along. I look forward to more music by Andy all the time; till then and even after, what he's done so far is worth listening too.

Black Bullets
Anyhow the animation was good and even though this opinion may change I think it may be one of the shows on my list to buy on DVD.
In the end after watching it I wish the show was still going but putting that aside one other thing about it made it good. There's an anime called Bakuretsu Tenshi (aka Burst Angel) which is a show that has great art and looks like it'll be absolutely sweet. The problem? Well there was to much fan service, no story, and they didn't even follow the main character the show started with. Additionally it was ridiculous in it's premise of villains and the things they fought over for a good chunk of the time.
Cutting myself off for the problems with Bakuretsu Tenshi and it's flaws, my point is as follows. Black lagoon is very similar in the premiss of what it's about but it's considerably better done even with it's own holes. Bottom line Black Lagoon and Bakuretsu Tenshi are virtually the same show and made out of the same parts, but Black Lagoon was put together correctly. Because of this I Liked the show and more so am considering buying it.
Looking in from a different direction I will mention that Black Lagoon is not a show for kids, religious types (those relating to the bible at the least), or anyone who can't stand a SLEW of bad language and blood. The show is very violent and though it could be much more graphic it's still up there. I recommend this show to anyone who loves guns and explosions. However it's also good for those who want more than JUST that cause there's a story in relation to the piracy, death, betrayal, and violence that takes place. None of the subjects are nice but there's enough story to keep Black Lagoon from being just a giant action show.
This is one of my favourite intros I've seen ever so far.

Dead Lead
Official Story
The mayor of Nagasaki Iccho Ito, 61, was shot to death outside of a train station just this Tuesday evening (4/16). According to the report the gunman was Tetsuya Shiroo, a senior member of Yamaguchi-gumi a large crime organization in Japan. This is quite big news since only five politicians have been killed in Japan since WWII.
Apparently Shiroo had his car damaged at a public construction site and he couldn't get compensation. What I can draw (or bet on) is that the guy was probably trying to get an insurance claim or cash from the government. On a side note insurance companies over in Japan are just as stingy but from what I read a lot more nice when it comes to working out a solution to an accident that involves another party. Anyway the man had a previous encounter back in 03 when his car was damaged in a similar matter so what I figure is that he was trying to get money for a very plausible form of damage. However in my opinion those who con hardly look suspicious on purpose.
I think it's interesting that this would happen over such a trivial matter. However it's also proof that the Japanese don't live in a society where you express your opinions openly without causing trouble and "dishonour" as it were.

Cute Glass
Well one of the shows I loved watching was Bottle Fairy which is about four little faries in bottels and live with a teacher. What they do with their time is they try to understand humans better so that they can become humans themselves.
The show can really be discribed in two words, Simple and Ubber cute. It really is a show for children as it's childish and simple. THeir activites range from learning aobut vocabulary (they misunderstand a lot of things the look up though) to trying their best to imitate human activities like school.
The show was a real fun ride and i never had to think while watching it because of it's simple premis.

I hate it
The entire thing wasn't that bad but the last episode blew it all up. Now I'm a not a spoiler person so I won't say how it ended but it involved choosing between two girls and the choice made was not in my favour. Really this is one of those things that's kinda hit a nerve so I wish there were still records on the animesuki forums so I could mull over what other people think of the ending (I've found reference to it's existence on other blogs since the ending was of a controversial nature, and the source of my displeasure).
Anyway I wouldn't suggest this show to many people at all if any. Then again I suppose if anyone reads this it may get them interested enough to watch it just for the ending itself. If that should happen... I warned you.

Pale Cocoon
Pale Cocoon is one of the few animes I have seen in my life which I know just from watching it once that I'll love it forever. The quality of this show is on level with Shinkai and Miyazaki works and the compelling story is on a level you rarely ever see. One episode and only 22 minutes long but it still has such an incredible story and high quality that I could watch it several times over never to tire of such and amazing piece work.
These screens do no justice to the actual video I must stress this fact.

Criss-Cross Inspiration?
Sagara Sanosuke
This is something that I have observed and pondered on. while I haven't researched it very heavily one thing is true. Those two names have only one Japanese character and a single syllable difference.
Sagara Sousuke is the name of an over militant character in the series Full Metal Panic! who uses military action no matter where he is even in a civilian environment.
Sagara Sanosuke is a hardened fist fighter in the show Rurouni Kenshin. He loves to gamble and likes to solve things with his fists.
You may say "ok so what?" well the thing that makes this interesting is the following tings. First look at Sousuke's face he has a cross scar on his left. Second FMP was made after Rurouni Kenshin. Now look at the character Kenshin who Sanosuke is co-star to.
Himura Kenshin the main character in the show Rurouni Kenshin. A man with a violent past and leading a now rather docile life.
The observation here is that Kenshin has a cross scar on the same side of his face. The thing I'm seeing is obvious though I have no proof. The man who did FMP was a fan at least of Rurouni Kenshin because of the uncanny likeness of Sousuke to two major characters in the Rurouni Kenshin series. It's like he's a combination of the two with a very slightly altered name. Like I said no proof but in my mind it's almost for sure that there is some definite link between the two even if it is as small as fandom.
Coincidence? probably not.

The Time of Summer's Sand
Ok, enough I can't take that type of intro and cliché set-up. What makes me like this story is that it's a bit different from the normal stories that I usually see in anime. What happens is that Koutarou (main character) is going to ask Kaho (female focus) out at the start of summer but the night before he dose he is caught in an odd incident. The result of this is he begins to randomly "Day Drop" which means he suddenly blacks out and wakes up on different days ranging from the start of summer vacation to his first day back to school.
Koutarou first drops to the day of the entrance ceremony after vacation and discovers that he was not only Kaho's boyfriend just yesterday but also that she died in an accident as well. After receiving this shock Koutarou Day drops around in time and tries to prevent the incident from occurring. In the process he changes the future of several people. Also being unable to control the when and where of the Day Drops he builds his relationship with Kaho (even if it is in a very non linear defunct form) and comes to care for her even more because of the situation he lies in.
The ending? Well that depends on how you play the game since your choices can allow her to live or to die.

The Second Hunt
Have you ever herd of the game called "Man Hunt"? It's a game from Rock Star (same people who do GTA) and it's honestly one of the most gory sick games I've seen. Sure game like Resident Evil, Unreal, and Gears of War are gory but not like this. While in those games you have to stay alive and you shoot and kill to do so with tons of gore, Man Hunt take a different approach. Instead of trying to stay alive your goal IS to kill and the more violent and gory you do it the more points you get.
For instance your first weapon is a plastic grocery bag simple enough right? Well if you hold the button down longer your attack is much more fierce. To this effect when you tap the button you simply smother your victim. However after holding it you quickly wrap their head and begin beating them in the face until blood is being shot through the holes and open cracks in the plastic. That was only the first most simple weapon to.
So my point is that Man Hunt is gory and honestly a bit creepy because it glorifies killing for enjoyment and encourages making it much more detailed and torture like to a high degree. That being said Nintendo is having Man Hunt 2 published on the Wii and to me this their utmost outright statement.
We are NOT just for kids!
Even though I'm not one for gore and the like I will buy Man Hunt 2 and I will probably enjoy it since stealth is my cup of tea.

Kaze no Tadoritsuku Basho
The following is a song called "Kaze no Tadoritsuku Basho" from the show Kanon. It's not really promotional but it is a good song that was composed. It's stuff like this that I love so much about how they handle music for anime and the like.
Also on a side note the title "Kaze no Tadoritsuku Basho" is a bit difficult to translate. The best I can come up with is "Destination of the wind's struggle" since I really can't think of a way to say "tadoritsuku" 「辿り着く」 in english.

SOS
While the show was good (and I mean good) i have complaints on it's order in which you can watch it. The problem is that the show is simply put, out of order if you watch it by how the episodes aired on TV. Because of this the 6th episode chronologically is the 14th (ending) by air sequence. I chose to watch this series chronologically since I research what I watch before I watch it. Because of that the show made total sense but lacked an ending since episode 14 (air order) was actually episode 6 (chronologically). With no ending the show had a lack luster feel even though it was really good.
Moving off of my bickering about weather i like it or not it would seem the show is very soon to be finished dubbing for the english market. Even though i don't agree with the voices (Faye Valentine for Suzumiya?!) I'll be buying the DVDs since the show was so good.

Metal Maddness
For those of you that don't know FMP is a show about a girl named "Kaname Chidori" who has to be protected and put under surveillance. The military organization "Mithril" sends their youngest soldier Sagara to do this because being 17 he can attend classes and befriend the unaware high school girl while protecting her from possible danger. It's a good idea but the problem is that Sagara has been raised as a very stiff mechanical military soldier from birth and has never lived in a civilian environment. This is a recipe for disaster or rather tons of slapstick humor. Sagara constantly reacts to simple incidents with drastic military procedures and after it's come clear that he won't leave Kaname alone for a moment she's stuck with trying to keep him in line.
The first season of 24 episodes was popular enough to Spawn two sequel series following in linear order.
- Full Metal Panic!
- FMP: Fumoffu!
- FMP: The Second Raid
Though the second and third seasons were only 13 episodes each they were each as good as the first. However while the first season was well balanced between the military action and story that developed Fumoffu was almost pure comedy and TSR was marly all serious action and plot. While I believe the second and third seasons to be not as good as the first they were still very good. I only wish there were more of the show.
This time instead of openings I'm going to leave you with trailers for the three respective seasons.

SHUFFLE!
hmm hmm hmmm well this is the best opening for an anime i have ever seen in my opnion. The only thing that can even come lose to rivaling it is something like cowboy bebop. It has such an intresting flow and runs with the music well.
Of course i was supurised at this when i found it. Not to bad I guess though it sounds like the lyrics are squeezed in a bit at times.

K or C same difference
It's unusual that you see three versions to a story and get to see so much evolution in the art. First the game which has great colouring, then the 02 anime which has animation quality, followed by the 06 anime remake which is king of the mountain because of how all the character are more defined and the dramatic lighting and colouring.
The original opening from the game
The Opening for the 02 anime
The opening for the 06 anime remake
I'm certain you can tell which one is the best hands down.

The beauty of fatality
The music the effects and the way the whole thing is presented makes all the difference. I've seen some horrid teasers and some supreme ones which is why i love them so much and i like to think of how to make good ones.
One of my favourite trailers ever is the one for the game Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly. It tells you what the story is drags you in and tells you just how you will play the game.
On an alternative note it seems Google has gotten rid of it's video service and now is depending wholly on You Tube. I find this unfortunate since i liked Google video better.

Take Note of Death
My comment is that I hope they get REAL subbers for the project as Death Note is a detailed and complex show based on thought and not action. By real subbers I mean people who auectly SPEAK english and japanese. If you have ever seen a sub job from the japanese (such as the FMA movie) you would understand how grating it is to read a translation from someone who knows it but doesn't SPEAK it. Think of the translations the best student in a french class would do with never having to carry on real conversation.

Adore all audio
Considering how I love music and how closely I listen to it when I love a song I'm obviously listening to more than just the meleody but as much of it as I can hear and distinguish. This reality in relation to games has been a very progressive movement for me since I've been playing games since the NES to current day. some songs rank above all else and I have several. Most of those songs being purely instrumental because of how I can be much more enraptured by the sound and not the lyrics.
One of the Video games wich makes a good mix of old school and modern forms of music playback is Chrono Cross. While some of the music is clearly synthetic there are tracks with very real and organic feel, such as vibration of the sting instruments. Due to this fact Even though I have yet to beat the game it's sound track sits high on my list for playback.
To more throughly express my opnion here is the intro to the game. Though the music isn't my favourite out of it's library it is one of my top three form the game.

Please give me more!
on the note of second flight i found out while browsing last night that i was right in my suspicions. I was certain that the music from the machima wow movie in the prior post was very familiar. It turns out that the song was done by none other than Kotoko who also did the intro for onegai twins and onegai teacher (twins prequel series). After finding this out it made total sense why i loved the music in the machima so much.
well now i know to keep my ear to the ground for music from Kotoko two songs and now I'm sold to keep listening. Now for the Onegai twins intro to help communicate my point.

WoW this is good
World of Warcraft movie: Eternal Legend
The editing job on this thing is great if only i had the paitence to capture the footage to do a project like this. Unfortunately it seems as though my video editing skills go to waste because of my lack of paitence.
