Once again

Well it seems that i'm loosing it or something because i found out in intresting little tidbit of info while listenign to my music library today.

Reguarding my post about the game called "Hourglass of Summer" it turns out that once again the artist sounded fimiliar and i liked the song. And it turns out that the artist KOTOKO is the face behind the noise once more. This time the song is titled "Went Away".

I need to think twice more often if i wanna catch this stuff like i used to be able to.

Vocal Strain

HOLY FUCKIN SHIT!

That's all that I could say for some time after seeing the clip.

The Woman is Hirano Aya 18 she's a voice actress and the voice of the character Suzumiya Haruhi. She dose all her singing and it's all actually her but DAMN her real voice is so different. Above that DAMN her vocal control is through the roof and beyond belief.

The Time of Summer's Sand

Natsuiro no Sunadokei (Hourglass of Summer) is a story about a high school sophomore who has this crush on a girl.

Ok, enough I can't take that type of intro and cliché set-up. What makes me like this story is that it's a bit different from the normal stories that I usually see in anime. What happens is that Koutarou (main character) is going to ask Kaho (female focus) out at the start of summer but the night before he dose he is caught in an odd incident. The result of this is he begins to randomly "Day Drop" which means he suddenly blacks out and wakes up on different days ranging from the start of summer vacation to his first day back to school.

Koutarou first drops to the day of the entrance ceremony after vacation and discovers that he was not only Kaho's boyfriend just yesterday but also that she died in an accident as well. After receiving this shock Koutarou Day drops around in time and tries to prevent the incident from occurring. In the process he changes the future of several people. Also being unable to control the when and where of the Day Drops he builds his relationship with Kaho (even if it is in a very non linear defunct form) and comes to care for her even more because of the situation he lies in.
The ending? Well that depends on how you play the game since your choices can allow her to live or to die.

The Second Hunt

Dose anyone remember how Nintendo earned the title of being a "Kids system" back during their life on the N64? Well through the Game Cube years they suffered with that title and I was criticized for owning a "kids" console. Personally I believe that Nintendo shook that name when they had the first resident evil remade on their system and then the gory resident evil 4 was exclusive for a time. However I can't help but feel that Nintendo has decided to totally shake that "child" concept from their tree of tags with their recent decision.

Have you ever herd of the game called "Man Hunt"? It's a game from Rock Star (same people who do GTA) and it's honestly one of the most gory sick games I've seen. Sure game like Resident Evil, Unreal, and Gears of War are gory but not like this. While in those games you have to stay alive and you shoot and kill to do so with tons of gore, Man Hunt take a different approach. Instead of trying to stay alive your goal IS to kill and the more violent and gory you do it the more points you get.
For instance your first weapon is a plastic grocery bag simple enough right? Well if you hold the button down longer your attack is much more fierce. To this effect when you tap the button you simply smother your victim. However after holding it you quickly wrap their head and begin beating them in the face until blood is being shot through the holes and open cracks in the plastic. That was only the first most simple weapon to.

So my point is that Man Hunt is gory and honestly a bit creepy because it glorifies killing for enjoyment and encourages making it much more detailed and torture like to a high degree. That being said Nintendo is having Man Hunt 2 published on the Wii and to me this their utmost outright statement.

We are NOT just for kids!

Even though I'm not one for gore and the like I will buy Man Hunt 2 and I will probably enjoy it since stealth is my cup of tea.

Kaze no Tadoritsuku Basho

One of the interesting things about anime is that every series I've seen has it's own original sound track to it. Being a person with a very audio dependent lifestyle I have many of the soundtracks for several of the shows I've seen. Hack Sign, Love Hina, Cowboy BeBop, and Naruto are a few of my favourites. In my opinion a god anime must have a good sorting of music to help enhance the mood. dramatic parts are never as good without such music accompanying and the same is true for comical instances. However specifically in anime there is also (usually) the music specifically composed for the show with lyrics that reflect the story or a character. Some times the music is sang by an Idol some times its done by the very vocal cast. Regardless it's one of the features I love the most about how the Japanese tackle marketing for their productions.

The following is a song called "Kaze no Tadoritsuku Basho" from the show Kanon. It's not really promotional but it is a good song that was composed. It's stuff like this that I love so much about how they handle music for anime and the like.

Also on a side note the title "Kaze no Tadoritsuku Basho" is a bit difficult to translate. The best I can come up with is "Destination of the wind's struggle" since I really can't think of a way to say "tadoritsuku" 「辿り着く」 in english.

Please excuse the poor quality on this.

Freaky Flash

Ever herd of a flash mob? they show up out of nowhere and then are gone in seconds. Thats interesting enough but this is how the Japaneses have fun with that idea.

The sad part is that this is the best thing I have to do with my spring break.

Haruhiism

Well rolling off my last post I'll talk about the fact that I have indeed been bitten by the Haruhi bug. The show was great so I went searching for the manga but in the end I stumbled upon the original novels instead. Apparently some guy decided to translate them for practice on his English skills and now it's a project of it's own. So far I’ve read the first novel and it covers the whole story portion of the anime (that being the first six chronological episodes). The translation is being done by Baka-Tsuki and I have to say it very well done I haven’t run into any real errors or typos yet. Thus far they have the first seven volumes done and are currently working on the eighth. I look forward to reading this whole series even though I don’t see finishing it very soon with how it’s still a work in progress.

I guess you could call me a Haruiist now….. not to sure if that’s good or bad.

SOS

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is an anime that I have been meaning to watch for some time now it's just i never had time to fit it into my schedule. Well this weekend I put Life on hold and boarded myself up in the computer room just to watch it. The end verdict is mixed.

While the show was good (and I mean good) i have complaints on it's order in which you can watch it. The problem is that the show is simply put, out of order if you watch it by how the episodes aired on TV. Because of this the 6th episode chronologically is the 14th (ending) by air sequence. I chose to watch this series chronologically since I research what I watch before I watch it. Because of that the show made total sense but lacked an ending since episode 14 (air order) was actually episode 6 (chronologically). With no ending the show had a lack luster feel even though it was really good.

Moving off of my bickering about weather i like it or not it would seem the show is very soon to be finished dubbing for the english market. Even though i don't agree with the voices (Faye Valentine for Suzumiya?!) I'll be buying the DVDs since the show was so good.

here's a taste of the dubbing

Dash!

Just finished the show Pani Poni Dash last night and i have to say it was fun to watch. The biggest mistake i made with it was trying to follow it... which didn't work since there was naught for story.

Theft, Cars, and Coke

Well to start off March I think I'll keep it short. I'm shure a lot of people have seen this ad before. Who knew that GTA could end up being so friendly in the end?
