Recording

Normally when it comes to anime it's all about weird things happening and a desired situation being reached as the result. I've seen the formula worked over and over again and again. It's cliché and gets rather tiring after a while but it still produces some desired effects and situations.
Not seeing such a formula is welcome and even more so if it doesn't follow the mould even further. Not many animes do that but the few that do are more than often worth watching for just that reason alone.

This brings me the the show called REC. It's about how a relation can start physically and then develop to being something deep that's not dependant on the flesh. It was different and fun to watch, I only wish there was more to it though. The ending is a real non since it basically leaves off where there could be more story, but it just isn't being told. You could compare it to a story of high school life. There's more after school ends but that's simply not part of the story.

Anyway the intro song was really good in my opinion.

Stop Staring!

Well if your as connected to anime as I am then you'll already know about this; but if you don't I'll indulge.

I have, in the past talked about "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". The show was VERY good and did considerably well. Despite ending on 7/2/06 the craze continues and there was a PSP game released called "The Promise of Haruhi Suzumiya" The portrait below was put on the game's official site to promote it. As stated by others the realism of her expression to how she acts in the show is just eerie.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term "Ambiguous Gaze".

Merto line or other side?

well I know you've seen it before time and time again. A guy that looks like a girl. It happens in all cultures all the time. My point now is that I've never seen anyone make fun of JUST Japanese metro guys... or are they actually gay stereotypes?

dude looks like a lady

Don't start asking which side I bat for since I found this. It was on my ex-girlfriend's mySpace page so i looked at it.

5cm Every Single Second

Shinkai Makoto, that is the name of an amazing person. His productions are of an incredible quality that I have never seen even in Miyazaki Hayao's work.

Shinkai's latest work is called "Byousoku 5 Centimetres - a chain of short stories about their distance" (I know it's a long title). This production carries Shinkai's name and reputation higher because of how it's quality is still increased from his last work. Having better quality still from his last production is no small task as he employs a large number of very gaudy painted backgrounds with painstaking detail. The end result is brilliant and worth heavy praise epically since the staff on the film is minuscule. Remember Shinkai is a name to follow.

Moving on to the feature itself, the story is about a boy and a girl who seem to have a special connection when they meet in elementary school. Soul mates if you will; however they are quickly torn apart due to how their parents line of work deviate from one another. They stay in contact but long distance relationships are harsh. There's more than one side to the story as well.
After being told how they meet there are three parts to the movie. First the male leads point of view from middle school the the occurring events. The second part is an outside view of the same young man in high school as told by a classmate. Finally the story wraps up as told by the man himself living in Tokyo in the year 2008. Though he dose narrate the ending to an extent the absolute outcome is a bit fuzzy, as the last of the movie is told through a music video/montage. I'm uncertain of how it really ended but if my assumptions are correct...

Point being it's worth watching.
